Wichita Public Library promoting Kansas Reads to Preschoolers
The Wichita Public Library has had a great week so far in promoting Kansas Reads to Preschoolers. We are giving stickers to kids who sit down and listen to "Bunny Cakes" read by their parent or other grown up in each of our locations. We also have therapy bunnies making appearances at many of our preschool storytimes. And last night Judge Joseph Pierron (famous emcee of Kansas Library Foundation fundraisers) started off storytime with a handstand and then donned his bunny ears to read "Bunny Cakes" and "My Shining Star" to an enthusiastic audience. Today the very kind Judge visited Wichita North High School with members of the WPL staff to read to the children in their nursery and then to talk to students in the child development class about the importance of reading to children. He made a great impression on the students and had a great time with the little ones. Many thanks to Vikki Jo Stewart for making Judge Pierron's appearance possible and for bringing free books to give to the little ones.
